It's March, right? We had the most gorgeous day today! It was 70+, sunshin-y, and very little wind...sounds like the perfect day for a bike ride, eh?!
Scott called yesterday and said he was putting a ride together and I said, "sign me up!" I had no idea it would be so pretty. We met at the shop at 11. Mike (another Epic teammate) and Andy (a fellow former AmCen co-worker) joined the ride. So, the 4 of us headed out. It was nice catching up with Andy, seeing what he's been up to. He and his wife are actually packing it up and moving to CO!
The route was fabulous - we wound around towards Parkville, over by the Argosy, and who knows where else...about an hour into the ride, we hit this one spot where the road made a sharp turn to the left and the straight up to the right. I could see it through the trees (which is never a good thing). Up we went. It was one of those hills that you want to zig zag up. Whew, I made it. What I didn't know (or see) is that there are 3 climbs back-to-back here. You literally get like 2 seconds to recover before hitting the next climb. Now I know why Scott (who was up ahead) held up a #1...then a #2...and, you got it, #3. After the 2nd climb, I said to Andy to go ahead and get around me, 'cause I may have to walk this 3rd one. How embarassing would that be. Nope, that didn't happen. I made it up all 3 and told Scott I officially hated him. :-)
We rode around a lake area that was so peaceful and pretty - it really was a fantastic day to be out on the bike. Thanks Scott! (and I stopped hating you once my HR came back down to normal...ha ha).
Another plus for today is that I picked up the Honda! It seems like the repairs fixed the problem, so I'm praying that it stays that way. After picking up the car, I went to pick up Ashley and Jancee, and we met Bill out at English Landing Park for a workout.
Tucker came with me so he could get out and walk a bit - he does love going to the park! I gave them some intervals on the walking path and then a long stretch of steady running. They all did great! Then we did some step ups on a little concrete area, as well as some upper body stuff (dips, push ups, etc.) It was good! The weather was still great, though it had cooled off a bit.
This has been a busy week. I still need to finish pulling up the tile in the sections that the fridge and stove covered up. And, I need to get the basement cleaned out. Lots to do.
One more note - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HARRISON!!! Today is Harrison's birthday, and he's celebrating with his gradparents visiting. We'll have to pick a day next week to celebrate! Hope you have a great birthday, Harry! :-)
