HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BILL!

Today is my bro's birthday! We celebrated Saturday afternoon, out at Bill & Kim's. Hope you have a fantastic birthday, BILL!

Today is also the day we are pulling out the ol' toilet and actually starting to lay tile. Oh boy! So, Terry came over around 10 and we got rolling. As luck would have it, we ran into trouble right away. There was a pipe leaking - so, I had to make my 1st trip to Lowes, and Terry went home for a few supplies we didn't anticipate needing (ie - blow torch). With the plumbing problem fixed, we were able to move on.

The bathroom floor needed leveling, so that was the next task. We had purchased this patch-type stuff, thinking it would cover the entire bathroom floor. Well, we quickly realized that wasn't the case. The floor was so messed up that this stuff barely filled in one section. So, I was on trip #2 to Lowes. I found this stuff that was self-leveling that you could pour over the floor and it would fill in the cracks and level it out. I wasn't sure if I would get the "thumbs up" on this stuff, but it worked great! Sadly, I needed another bucket of this stuff too! Trip #3 to Lowes - here I come. I actually had 2 clerks ask me how many times I had been there today. Zip it! :-)

With the bathroom floor level, it just needed to dry. So, we started laying tile in the kitchen. I use the term "we" loosely here, as Terry did the bulk of the actual tile-laying work. I had to run back to Lowes for a 4th time just before they closed...we needed another box of tile. We decided to break for dinner at that point (I think it was 8:30 or so). Anyway, as we were eating, Terry said he thought maybe we'd just quit for today. He was at a point where he'd need to mix more glue - no point in doing that this late at night. So, we ate and called it a night.

I spent the night at my parents' house, since the house is a mess and the bathroom is Out of Order. :-) Thanks Parents!

Too bad you couldn't have used several different stores so it wasn't too noticeable.

Yes, Happy Birthday to Bill. I actually didn't get to call or anything, so .... I'm a bad girl.
