I know it's hard to believe you could have serious entertainment at 5-something in the morning at the Y's pool, but we sure had some drama in the lanes this morning!
This gal (we'll call her "crazy") gets in lane 1, which is the free lane, not reserved for Masters swim. So, she's swimming along, with her fins. I'm standing at the wall - INSIDE my lane - when I get kicked. Nice. Ok, whatever...it happens.
Then, another gal comes along who is very pregnant (in fact, her due date is today!), and she hops in the lane with crazy. Well, you can imagine if this woman could kick me - in another lane - what she must be doing in her own lane. A short time later, I was swimming back toward the wall and look up to see this crazy woman now in my lane - facing me. What's going on? I could tell there was some chatter down there between the lifeguard, Paul and the crazy gal - they told her she needed to get back in the other lane and circle swim. I guess she was complaining that the very pregnant gal was swimming down the middle of the lane. Reality was - very pregnant gal was actually hugging the wall for fear of being kicked.
The real drama started a bit later. I had actually gotten out of the pool and was sitting on the bench. All of the sudden we don't see crazy lady in lane 1. Sure enough, she appears in lane 5. She swam under the ropes and pops up in that lane - at the opposite end - where there are already THREE guys swimming. She doesn't say anything to them, rather just starts muscling her way through the lane - not caring if she plows into anyone else. Oh boy! Everyone else at the pool is like, "what is she doing?!?!" It was nuts.
Crazy was very, very rude for sure! The lifeguard tried telling her that it's customary to ask permission to jump into a packed lane of swimmers - crazy asked for her name...like she's gonna report her to the Y police. Hmmmm.
We sure had a fun time watching the fellas trying not to clobber her. Poor guys.
That's it for the swimming saga.

A month ago I got in the Y pool at 5:30 am to begin my training for a Sprint Tri. It had been at least two years since I swam in the pool. And I had the pleasure of getting in the same lane with "crazy flipper lady." She swam over to me, flippers and all, and began yelling in my face that I would push her to the side if I swam in this lane. I just said "lady, I am standing here in three feet of water, it is 5:30 in the morning and you need to take your flippers somewhere else." Or at least part of that is what I wanted to say. Paul just yelled over (I had yet to meet him) and apologized for her tactful approach of asking me to get out of her lane. She was there this morning again, but I must have missed all the fun as I didn't arrive until 5:30 am. After my sprint tri I am going to cannon ball crazy flipper lady. CK
I may be the bad guy in saying so but there are some times where an accidental elbow to the ribs seems deserved.
Well, I'll join you in the cannonball effort...maybe that could be part of the group workout that day! :-)
And, the elbow idea is good, though I'm not sure that would slow CRAZY down! She is somethin' else, that's for sure!
I will definitely make a "cannonball" workout for that day!!! Next tuesday perhaps?? Hahahaha, yeah, some people are just, well...stupid...sorry, they're stupid! Keep on keepin' on everyone! Oh and to Scott....hehehe, yeah, one of the guys in that lane "accidentally" hit her hand when they were coming at each other down the lane...Let's just say that made my day! :) Yeah, I'm mean, ah well!
