Back in the Saddle Again

Too bad I don't have the audio clip handy to include...just hum a few bars of that tune...

I'm afraid my post from a couple days ago made me sound like I'm on a ledge - it's not at all like that, I assure you. It's just an interesting aftermath. I'm not depressed, and I'm not hanging up the sport of triathlon. I just need to see what is next on the "list". ;-)

Yesterday's weather here in KC was really pretty, so what's a girl to do? I had to get on the bike. I've been feeling really good since the Ironman, so I was eager to give the legs a test ride and see how they really did. I rode for about an hour - nothing too crazy, just enjoying the day. It was great getting back out there, and I'll admit that it was also great not having to be out there for 6+ hours. he he

I also had my first post-race appointment with Kent, which went well. It's always interesting to me what hurts when you're being worked on - I hadn't noticed my neck/shoulders being tight, but sure noticed when Kent was working on them. We joked about this yesterday (as Kent wants to take like 95% of the credit), but there are many factors that contributed to my good race experience and recovery - Kent's work is definitely one of the key factors!

After the massage, I met Sharon for dinner. We went to the same Mexican place from a few weeks ago. And, wouldn't ya know, they were having that crazy music fest on the patio again. It's so funny - well, we did hear one good guy last night, but overall, they're not very good. I guess if they're having a good time, that's what matters. We nearly lost our lives as some guy came barreling into the parking lot and used the curb as his brake! I'm not even kidding about that! I think he must have been disturbed that the shin-dig started without him. ;-)

Since the ride went well, I decided to head back to Masters swim this morning. Yes, I'm gonna try to keep rollin' with the masters swim. It's been such a big help, and I have so much more to work on, so I need to keep going. The whole pool gang is so nice and supportive - they were super encouraging prior to our race, and were very interested to hear all about it this morning. Of course, I also managed to get a little bit of swimming in too! Funny, since I've been going to masters, I've only ever done the "hard" workout, which is the longest one. Today I picked the Easy workout and didn't even do the whole thing. It felt good just getting back in the water, but I certainly wasn't ready to push it at all. So, just an easy morning at the pool for Dawn.

Today is also my first day back in the office, and I'm pretty fortunate to have this fall on a holiday week where it's already a bit quiet...oh yes, and a short week too! I know, I know...

My coworkers are also pretty great, and have been very supportive through all the training, etc. They planned a big food day for my return - how nice of them!

So, the week is off to a good start!

Dawn ~

It's great that this week is a short week for you and we know you weren't "truly" depressed, just imagining how you must feel.

Can't wait to hear about the next race you'll do and definatley enjoy reading your blogs....
