Just a random tidbit of trivia here, but did you know my parents were both in the Air Force? In fact, that's where they met! If you keep up with my blog, you'll remember they just celebrated 40 years of marriage last weekend!
It's pretty easy to get caught up thinking of today as just another day off work, a day to picnic or what have you, but it's good to take a moment and think of those who have given their lives for our freedom. I'm thankful for those soldiers and their families, and am certainly thankful for those still serving.
I was able to sleep in a bit this morning, and the only workout to speak of was an open water swim. I called my brother, and went out to Smithville lake for the swim. Getting in the lake for the first time is always a bit scary. I was glad my wetsuit still fits well, and happy there wasn't any lightening. :-) It sure was cold out there! And, the water was so much higher than it was last time I was out there. Anyway, it took a bit getting adjusted to the cold and the nervousness of just being in the lake. I swam out and back and few times, past the roped off swimming area. One time when I came back to shore, I noticed a boat had passed me...uh, hel-lo, boats aren't allowed over here. That's a little scary!!! Anyway, all in all, it was a good swim and I definitely want to get out in the water several more times before heading to CDA!
I stopped over to see Kim and Bailey after I swam, and we all chatted a bit about our trip. It was good seeing them too.
I haven't posted pics for a while, so I thought maybe I should throw some out here...So, Tucker has a new place to sleep in the house...he likes this chair that is in the living room (which, by the way, really doesn't match the rest of the living room). On the first several attempts to lay in this chair, he discovered he would not fit...so sad for the big fella. Then, on a later attempt with the pillow knocked down, he discovered that he does - indeed - fit perfectly in this chair. He loves it. Most mornings, when I leave him at home, he's snuggled up here.

This pic is a little blurry, but I love the way he's laying here...back legs all sprawled out...very cute!

I took a little nap today, and Tucker sure was happy when I got up...he didn't miss a beat and settled right into my spot!
