89 degrees, 90% humidity, 15-24mph winds

Yes, these are the weather stats from yesterday's ride. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the storms subsided, but I'm not sure what happened to their "mostly cloudy skies" forcast. I wanted the clouds!
Ok, Scott, I know it's not your 100+ temps, but with that monster high humidity, it was THICK out there today! I was drenched and everytime I moved my head, it seemed like someone had a hose pointed over me - water was just pouring off. All complaining aside (smile), I actually had a little trouble simply adjusting to the heat, since we haven't had much warmth, really. Troy called when I was about an hour in, and I stopped for a second on the side of the road...it felt that really sick...I may pass out feeling...and quickly decided I better get moving again. I went through so much water in the first couple hours, I worried I would run out by the end of my ride.

Jen really came through for me with this weeks' training - again, she met me for a few hours in the middle of my ride. It just helps a ton to have someone out there...it's a good distraction. Not to mention, we've been able to catch up with each other! At one point, I called my mom and said, "how would you feel about running a couple ICE COLD Cokes out here? (oh, I should mention I was doing this ride at the downtown airport...yes, I know that's painful for a 6 hour effort, but not knowing what the weather would do, I didn't want to get stuck in the boonies on one of my normal routes) So, Donna - bless her pea-pickin' heart - brought out Cokes and Snickers bars...oh yeah...these are magical in the middle of a tough workout. The Coke tasted awesome...nice and cold! THANKS Mom!

Jen rode a while longer and then needed to get home to the family. Thanks for coming out, Jen - HUGE help!

So, I was left to finish her off on my own. No worries. Now, the sun was mostly down, and though it was still very windy, the temps were SO MUCH more tolerable. It actually felt nice out there. I had bugs stuck all over my arms, 'cause of my slime...nice picture, eh? Yes, little gnats all over me. I couldn't wait to get in the shower. I also had these bumps on my legs, just below the leg band of my shorts - I'm not sure what that's about, unless it's heat-related. I've never had that happen before.

Anyhoo, I finished up my ride and bolted home to clean up. Ahhhh, yes, that shower felt great! I guess we could have 90 degree temps in CDA, but could it be 90% humidity? I sure hope not!!!

I get those bumps too! I think its just from all the crap that hits your legs and sticks to you b/c of the sweat...just irritates your skin..that's my best guess at least...Keep up the great training girl!!

Yes, you're correct. 90% humidity is nothing like 105 degree heat. In warm temps, the humidity is so much worse! I suppose that really why I stay out here in SoCal and don't move anywhere out of the southwest. =)

The heat and humidity combined can do weird things to the human body. Even more so when it's not adjusted.
