Well, I woke up at 4:30 to lightening and thunder. Oh geesh...what to do? I set my alarm for an hour later, and got up at 5:30 to pouring rain and gusty winds. Same drill...an hour later my mother calls to see if I'm out riding - no, I'm trying to decide what I'm going to do. I hate this part of training. Do I mind riding in the rain? Well, not really, but in lightening - uh, yes!
So, I lounge around the house, watching the forcast, eating b'fast, etc. I ended up chatting with Sharon (my sis) and the boys for a while. They have a webcam, so I got to watch them, but they couldn't see me...probably for the best with my bed head hairdo! It was nice catching up with them.
I talked to Jen - she didn't go run with the running group, 'cause of the storms, so she is free for a couple hours of workout too. Oh, this is very nice, since it's always better to have company out there. What to do?
Finally, due to the potential for more storms (with hail), I opt to do my run today and shelf the ride for tomorrow. I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that my run is only 1:45 this weekend! I thought it was 2:45! Jen and I plan to meet at noon in Parkville. I haven't run in Parkville in a while, so this will be nice.
Wouldn't ya know it, we literally just get out of our cars, and hear loud thunder and large raindrops start to fall. Are you kidding? What is with my timing these days?! So, we sit in my car for a bit, and while it gets pounded with rain, we catch up on stuff...work, family, etc. Thankfully, the rain stopped after a bit, and we decided to venture out. When we started the run, it was pretty windy and very cloudy/overcast. As we ran, the wind definitely picked up, but the sun tried to peek out every so often. It quickly got pretty muggy out there. I've been doing the 9:1, run:walk method throughout this IM training, and it's working pretty well. I felt great today...and it didn't take me 20 minutes to warm up! I was so appreciative that Jen ran with me both Thurs and today...this is the first time in a long time that I've completed two, consecutive training runs (that were more than an hour) and felt pretty good. I hope this sticks around for the next 3 weeks!
We wrapped up the run and parted ways. I came home, showered and really just stayed off my feet the rest of the day, as much as possible. I even napped a little bit. I'm hoping tomorrow's forcast changes, and the weather is decent for a ride! The temps are supposed to be 80-90, and the humidity is really shooting up there, so it's not looking to be too pleasant. I don't really have too many options at this point. I talked to Steve and he said I could do the ride Monday morning, but it sounds like rain until at least 10 Monday. And, I don't want to back myself into a corner, so I'll give it a shot tomorrow and hope for the best!

I am so glad to hear that your spirits are up. I know that you have been very tired and I think you take on too much (but we have already had that conversation)! I was catching up on everything and I am so proud of you for taking the time to treat yourself to a day at the spa.
I know that you are getting to the tail-end of your training but hang in there! What you are about to embark on IS life changing and I am in awe of you being able to do the Ironman (you have come a long way from Taco Bell :)
Have a great Memorial Day!
Lonnie
It was great to talk to you that day. Can't wait to do it again once you're done with all your training.
Hi to Lonnie!!
