My Honda CR-V will be 5 years old on Saturday - yes, I remember the exact date of purchase, 'cause I bought it on my sister's birthday. I remember calling her to tell her that I bought a present for myself!
I've had minimal problems with the car, and it's perfect for hauling around my bike equipment and such. Overall I've been really happy with it. Well, a couple days ago, the engine light came on, and I noticed that the engine would "miss" when accelerating under strain (up a hill, for instance). So, I called a trusted auto shop here in the northland, and took it in this morning for them to read the codes.
I was hopeful that it would be a simple problem (ok, and a cheap one too), they would fix it and I would be off an running. Well, apparently it was reading several different codes, so they asked to keep it a while. My darling mother came to pick me up and took me home. I intended to go to work, but I guess I'll be working from home today.
The mechanic called several hours later and told me that he had cleared all the codes and ran it again - 2 codes came back and he's unable to reset them or identify the real issue. I need to call the dealer. Rats! He gives me the codes and I call the Honda dealership - I talk to a guy in the service center and give him a recap of the happenings thus far - I say, "would you like me to tell you these codes"...to which he replies, "well, I don't know what good that will do." Are you kidding me? You - Honda - are the ones who create these codes and put them into the car systems for a reason - no? Whatever. Then his next question is, "do you want to make an appointment or what?" Well, I guess I kinda need to make an appointment if I want to drive my car, don't ya think?
I just find that frustrating. Oh well, back to the dealership I go...sometime next week as they don't have any appointments available until then. To be continued...
