Good Friday - well, sort of

Today started like most other Fridays - alarm goes off at 4:30 a.m. and I get ready for spin class. Since I have today off from my real job, I arranged with my coach to do my 4 hour 15 min brick workout today and a long run tomorrow. This way, I'll get a recovery day on Sunday.
So, I taught a somewhat tough spinning class with intervals, and then headed out to meet Troy to finish up the effort. It was cold and windy (for some reason I feel like I've mentioned that recently...like ALL winter!?) out there, that's for sure. This is a route we've ridden before, so I kinda knew what to expect. I rode the Cervelo, so I could practice staying aero on the climbs and just get more comfortable with the handling of that bike. It's definitely different. The route started out into the wind, then we turned and had a long, flat to downhill stretch with the wind at our backs. This worked great for the effort, 'cause we got to relax and just hammer along until we turned back toward the start. Then, of course, the wind was in our face again and we were climbing our way back up. We stopped at the bottom, right after the turnaround, and my comment to Troy was, "I love this bike". He was commenting on his wheels, which we have in common - Cosmic Carbones. They are so smooth. Maybe that's what I love, rather than the bike! ;-)
Anyway, I remembered this climb back up being rather tough, but I just hunkered down in my aero bars and tried to focus on staying relaxed and smooth pedaling. Seemed to work, 'cause I got close to the top and wondered what happened to the hill!
I finished up the ride and headed out on the run. Oh boy - my legs did not like that action at all! I just kept running (really it felt more like shuffling, but whatever it was, I kept doing it). About 20 minutes or so into the run, I felt my toes thawing out from the bike and my legs felt like they were a little more under me, but they never really did get any zip to them. Thank goodness the run was only an hour!
There were certain points along this run where I had to hold my hat down, 'cause the wind was trying to snatch it. That made me think of poor Troy, still out there on the bike. If the wind was bad running, what must it feel like on the bike???
I finally finished my run and walked for a bit, just trying to stretch out. I find it hard to do that when it's so chilly out. Troy finished another loop shortly after my cool down, so we exchanged a few words and I headed home. Here it was, not quite 11:00 a.m., and I was done with a FOUR hour+ workout! Crazy, I'm tellin' ya!
I called my mom on the way home and asked if she wanted to meet me at First Watch - I was starving (duh!). So, she met me there and we had b'fast, which was followed up by a much needed nap!

This afternoon I headed over to my parents' house and colored easter eggs with Bailey and my mom. We had a good time! Tucker wanted to color some eggs too. Mom won the "ugliest egg"...we're still not sure what it was supposed to be. (Pics of the fun and our eggs coming soon)
