Yep, I'm a bit delayed in posting to my blog (again). It's been a busy week already (and it's only Tuesday)! We're in sales meetings all week, and that just really eats up the day. It's 9pm and I'm just sitting down to look at emails - ugh! Anyway, Troy and I endured another long brick this past Saturday. Yes, as the rest of the world slept, we were gathering our gear and heading to the park for a 4 hour brick workout. Sounds like fun, huh?
The temps weren't too bad today, but the wind was an issue. I think it was around 20mph (or at least that's what I'm telling people). We were supposed to ride our bikes for 3 hours and then run for an hour. We were about 20 minutes from finishing our ride when I got a flat! Fun! No worries, with the help of Troy's equipment, I changed it and we were on our merry way again. We finished up the ride, thawed out our toes, swapped out some of our gear and took off running. We both had our iPods, which was fabulous, 'cause we didn't plan to stay together for the run. We ran a loop around a lake. I didn't stop running and did not check my watch until I made it around once...it had been about 15 minutes. Not too bad, I thought. So, I walked for 1 minute, and started into the 2nd loop. Again, I made it around before stopping for my 1 minute walk and watch check. I had 30 minutes to go. I told myself that if I ran this entire 3rd loop - AND didn't look at my watch the entire time, I could walk the rest of the hour. It's amazing how much bargaining goes into the workouts sometimes. :-) Well, I made it around a third time. At that point, I thought, this is ridiculous...I've run this long, I can make it the rest of the way. So, I flipped my direction around, hoping the change in scenery would shake things up enough. I also knew I would run into Troy, as he was ahead of me. His run was looking strong. I ran until we crossed paths - I still had a couple minutes to go, so I flipped it around again, now following. We agreed we'd walk a loop at the end, so I was just trying to endure another couple minutes. Aaaaahhh, I made it. THREE hours of riding, and an HOUR run! This is a mere fraction of the time I'll spend in the Ironman, but I got through it. We finished the FOUR hour brick!
Other than that, the weekend wasn't super eventful. I did look at a house, which kinda lit my fire to try to get mine ready to sell. We'll see how that all comes along. Terry and Kathy came with me to see the house and then we all went to dinner. I was pooped by this time, so that was about it for Saturday!
As I said, this week is our sales meeting at work, so it'll be long days and activities at night. Hopefully I'll be able to get in all the workouts.
