I am pretty happy that it's finally the weekend. This was a long, busy week, and I was in need of some down time. I met Troy for what was supposed to be a brick workout this morning. It's funny how your perspective changes...my comment was that it was only a two hour ride. There was a day when two hours would've been impossible and the thought of it would've been ridiculous! However, after a four hour brick workout last weekend (with 20mph winds), two hours really seemed short. It was a little cool, but the sun was shining and it was a beautiful day. We started the ride at 8, which made me happy, 'cause I was actually able to sleep in until 6! Ahhh!
There was a portion of our route that was under construction, so we had to take a bit of a detour, but it ended up being pretty nice. It was much hillier than the normal route, but that's a good thing, considering Couer d'Alene has quite a bit of climbing on the bike leg. I was also a bit cranky for a portion of the ride, which I commented on and Troy quickly agreed. ha ha! Oh well, that's just bound to happen at some point, right? :-)
We rode fairly hard for the two hours and were both pretty happy to get back to the start. I mentioned at the beginning that this was supposed to be a "brick" workout - well, it was only a bike ride for Dawn, 'cause I forgot my running shoes. Urgh! So, while Troy did the short run, I opted to grab some coffee from QT. Mmmmm. (Don't worry, I was kind and brought Troy some too!)
After the workout, we headed over to Epic Bike. Epic is a fairly new bike shop up North, and I had not yet visited. One of the guys I work with is good friends with the owner, and they are actually one of DFT's sponsors this season - very cool!
So, we paid them a visit. Terry met up with us there too, so that was fun. We really didn't end up buying much, but it was fun to look around and chat a bit.
After that little jaunt, I headed home to check on Tucker. We played for quite a while (there's a story behind the play time, but I'll put that in another post), I ate, took a short nap, and then we went to the park for a walk. What a gorgeous Fall day we have here today! I love the colors of the trees, the crunching leaves under my feet, and the smell of the cool air - I just like Fall! We had fun playing at the park and basically Tucker hauled me around...he was so excited to be out there and there were tons of people out, since the weather is so nice.
That's about it, really. I'm home now, working on some stuff for the 2008 DFT team. I'm also determined to do some more work in my basement this evening. I'm digging through boxes, throwing out stuff that I cannot for the life of me figure out why I ever kept it, and moving those items I want to keep into storage tubs. We'll see how much progress I make on that. :-)
Oh, and I FINALLY bought a new washing machine!!! Did I ever mention on this blog that mine was dead? Well, it died a while ago, and I just hadn't purchased a new one. I finally did that earlier this week - thanks to Terry for his help with transport and installation - and I'm so happy to be doing laundry in my own house again.
