(this pic really doesn't do Tucker's work justice...the entire heel of the thing is missing!)
Unfortunately these aren't your over-the-counter types...I had these cast-molded following surgery on both of my feet. When I called to get my appointment, the gal on the phone told me that the plate itself is virtually indestructible. I said, "weeeellll, this boy can chew through his metal kennel...and the heel of the insert is gone..." I remained hopeful.
One look at the orthodic and I was told that it was not salvageable, and this would require casting my feet again for a new pair. The good thing is that we were able to kinda step back and re-evaluate my activity level, and determined that I really need something different anyway. Alas, it's probably for the best - it's just VERY expensive!!!
By the way, I love my podiatrist! Chris Guerrieri, podiatrist extraordinaire, operated on both of my feet - it's been 6 (left foot) and 7 (right foot) years ago now, and pre-surgery, I would've never been able to do all of this running, biking, etc. So, if you're in need of a foot doc, check out Mid-America Foot & Ankle Specialists.
Now I wait for my new pair of orthodics to arrive. I expedited the order so it should be next week some time...
