Bike, Breakfast, (good)Bye

Up and at 'em early again this morning - only this time I actually woke up on time! I wasn't positive who all would show up this morning, but I arrived at Park Hill HS right about 7.Troy was there, pumping up his tires, getting ready to go. Here's a nice pic of Troy giving me the look when I whipped out the camera for picture time. Deep down, I know he likes picture time!

It was a bit muggy out already, and the sun wasn't really out...should be a steamy day. Pat pulled up a few minutes later, and then Paul shortly after that. Looks like that's our group today. It's a little disappointing that more folks weren't able to come out, but that's just the way it goes. Here's a picture of Pat - I caught him off guard, so I think he's blinking a bit...I think you'll recall that I know Pat from spinning class. He's been coming to my class so regularly for over a year now. It's just fun getting to ride with him outdoors too. Pat's expecting some excitement this weekend - his daughter is 9+ months pregnant and ready to roll at any moment. When will the little guy make his grand entrance???

Paul is wolfing down some b'fast and decides to strike a pose for his photo op this morning. I can't recall excactly what it was, but Troy definitely had a comment for Paul about this pose!

One final shot before heading out...Troy and Pat are ready to get moving! We rolled out just after 7:15 and headed out to Interurban, towards Camden Point. It really was thick out there today! Despite the humidity, we had a really pleasant ride. I need to download the data from the ol' garmin, but I think we ended up with nearly 2 hours of pedal time - not too bad for our gang this morning. The fellas had a bit of a sprint just before we turned around. I just sat back and watched them go.

Troy had to head out fairly quickly, but Pat, Paul and I went over to MiMi's for some b'fast. We had a good time chatting - over WAY too many cups of coffee! Pat needed to go get ready to play g'pa, so Paul and I were talking about what else we had going on the rest of the day. I was telling him about Jennie and Jason's going away par-tay, and he invited himself along! (ha ha...ok, Jennie said anyone could come along...but you did invite yourself, Paul!)

I was actually glad for that, 'cause I really didn't know anyone else there, so I would've been twiddling my thumbs for a while. It was neat to see so many people come out to wish them well in their move to Denver. Jennie and I haven't known each other all that long, but have become fast friends and I will miss having her around here! I enjoyed getting to chat with her family a little more too (I met them at the Kansas 70.3). Jason and Jennie - best of luck in your move...I'll be out to visit soon! :-)

I called Robyn (DFT teammate) on my way home. She sent a text yesterday asking if I wanted to ride for 8 hrs today. I actually would've liked that, but Memphis is a bit far to drive for a ride! Anyway, I called to see how her ride went and give her a little pep talk. Her Ironman is coming up sooooo quickly (Ironman Louisville), and I remember how tough that final push was. She sounds like she's doing well, and it was good talking with her.

Troy called me tonight. He was on his way home from a wedding/reception, where he was struck with the realization that he had nothing in common with the folks he was around. What to talk about? It's kinda funny how that happens when your goals and priorities change up a bit. We also talked about his friend, Sergio who will be racing Ironman Lake Placid tomorrow. We cannot believe tomorrow marks ONE MONTH since Coeur d'Alene - sure doesn't seem like a month!
