Yes, I'm writing this after the fact, but I'm sneaky and can change the date to make it look like it's June 24!
I woke up to an empty house this morning...kinda sad, but it was probably good to have the quiet. I still feel pretty good, and am grateful for that. Troy called this morning to see if I wanted to go with his family on a boat cruise of Lake CDA later this afternoon. I sure do! It'll be nice to do something vacation-ish before heading home. The weather is beautiful again today. I guess I could just say, "ditto" each day. I love it.
I've heard from lots of friends and family regarding the race, and it's been nice catching up with everyone. I talked to Steve for about an hour this morning, just discussing the race, what happens with your body, recovery, racing again, all kinds of stuff. I also talked to Lonnie for a long time too. It was great sharing this experience with her!
And, obviously, I finally got caught up on the rest of race day on my blog. It's so hard remembering everything - especially what order things happened in. It'll be great to go back in the coming weeks, months, year and read over the details.
I headed over to Troy's place around 3, and rode with them into CDA. The boat cruise left at 4:30 for a 90 minute tour of lake CDA. As I sat there on the top deck, looking out over the lake, it was really hard to believe that was the very place I had started my race just 2 days ago. This time Sunday, I was running...er, walking?...hours from finishing that momentus day.
The boat went all around the lake and it was simply beautiful...and utterly relaxing! There are some really gorgeous homes on that lake. There's also a pretty cool golf course with a FLOATING green. We got an up close look at that too. Troy and I talked a little bit about the race, but not a ton. It was just nice to soak in the scenery and beautiful day.
We went out for Mexican food afterwards. Unfortunately the service was horrible and we had to wait a really long time to eat. The kiddos were getting a bit stir crazy, but you certainly couldn't blame them.
Back at the houses, I said goodbye to Troy and his crew. They were a great support and it was nice to finally meet all the folks in his life that I've heard so much about through our months of training.
I came back "home" and did a bit of picking up in preparation for leaving tomorrow. I really don't want to leave!
