Today was a fun day, not having anything to do with the fact that it was St. Patrick's Day, however. I've been pretty busy at work, so I was hoping to really get some stuff knocked out this morning. I kind of accomplished that, I guess we always hope to get more done.
I left the office a bit before 1 and headed to see my new pal, Kent, for a much-needed massage. How did I make it through training for and completing 4 marathons without regular massage work? I was a foolish girl! :-) I have found real benefit so far with the work he's done - my arm is so much better, and it's a relief to be back in the pool! Anyway, today's massage was perfectly timed, given the run we did on Saturday. So, today's work was mainly focused on the ol' legs, and they're feeling great now!
I walked out of the massage room, planning to book some additional appointments - I always feel a bit out of it when I leave there...well, today I noticed a guy sitting in the waiting area. As I walked out, he looked up, and I was looking at him for - geesh, probably 5 seconds or so - when it hits me...that's Troy. Of course, he enjoyed laughing at me once again due to my state of dilerium.
So, the two of us talked to Kent for a bit, asking questions on timing massage with workouts and such. Troy is on the books too now, and I have my appointments booked out all the way post-Ironman. Woohoo!
Troy was on his way to the Trek store to pick up a few things, so I went along. It was fun looking at all the new equipment, but I walked away with only a $2.99 purchase. That's right - after I don't know how many months, I FINALLY bought a battery for my Polar bike computer and it is functional once again!
I had not eaten lunch and Troy was ready for his second lunch, so we ran over to Panera and ate. We had a good time talking some about the race, but mostly about family, work and life in general. It was really nice to not only be chatting outside of a workout, but chatting about something outside of the Ironman for a change!
Driving home, I ended up talking to Steve for quite a while...back on the note of Ironman, we discussed all kinds of things regarding recovery, nutrition and which bike to choose for the race. People kind of chuckle when I tell them I am working with a coach in CO, who I've never met in person, but I gotta tell you...Steve has been a great help with this training! He is in constant contact and is never at a loss for input and advice with the training.
I picked up Tucker from my folks' house and headed home. What a nice day!
