Ok, well, fire in the kitchen anyway - it was about 9:30 last night and I decided to put the ol' tea kettle on and make some hot tea. (yes, this makes me feel like I'm 90!)
I was packing up all my gear and such for this morning's workouts and set two towels on the small section of counter next to the stove (see picture of the crime scene). I left the kitchen and was back in the bedrooms getting the rest of my stuff together. Well, the tea kettle whistled, bringing me back into the kitchen, only to see flames shooting up around the kettle and stove - EEEKS!!

It appears that the towels unfolded and landed up against the burner, hence the fire. Thankfully the tea kettle whistled when it did, because both towels were in flames. I only got a decent picture of one of the towels (not the worst of them), which happens to be my 1/2 Ironman "Finisher" towel.
Fortunately, the sink it just an arm shot away, so I grabbed the towels, threw them in the sink and turned on the water. (Firefighter brother, Bill - how are my firefighting skills? Perhaps I need a fire prevention course?!)
Another "incident" - I started taking my own bike and the trainer (see previous post picturing my bike on the trainer in my living room)to spinning class. It's a little bit of a hassle packing everything up and hauling it into class, but worth it for the efforts put in on my own bike. Anyway, this morning I hopped on it and started teaching class. Just a few minutes in, the bike starts tumbling off the trainer, taking me with it. It's amazing that I was even able to get my feet unclipped and as Troy so kindly pointed out, I would've surely been on the ground had the wall not been just a few feet away! So, that was some fine entertainment for my early bird spinners! I guess I hadn't tightened down the skewer enough.
