Seriously, Christmas is next month?!

Well, we start another month today - November, already? I just can't believe it! Don't get me wrong, Fall is my favorite time of year, except for what follows behind it. Ugh. I find that I'm especially dreading this winter, knowing that I'll be spending even more time on the treadmill and the trainer - not my favorite things. I would -hands down- prefer training outdoors.
Ultimately, it's all about the transition. It's hard to remember what to wear to bike/run when it's 40 degrees out...did I need to cover my ears, or this extra layer under my jersey? Last Saturday, Troy and I met for a bike ride/run around 7:30 a.m. I'm not sure why, but I really struggled with "feeling" like riding. I woke up with a headache, and the last thing I wanted to do was sit on my bike and let the cold wind hit me in the head for 2+ hours. This is when it's actually beneficial to have someone you're meeting for the workout! I went back and forth on what to wear - I think it was low 40's when we started riding, and I figured it wouldn't get above 60 by the time we finished up.

Things I want to have on next time I ride in 40 degrees:
Headband (ears need warmth!)
Toe covers

Perhaps I'm a wimp, or maybe it was just the headache. At any rate, those were the conclusions I came to. Obviously I've had other occasions when I didn't feel like starting a workout (every Monday morning!!!), but you start it and within a short amount of time, you're feeling good and glad you're out. I have to say - not so much this time around. I wanted that ride to be OVER! I couldn't wait to get some coffee or hot cocoa. In fact, that may have been all I was thinking about (sorry Troy, maybe this is why I took a few wrong turns)! The ride ended. We did a short run and immediately headed to get some coffee. Aaaaahhhhh. Funny thing - I don't even like coffee very much (I try - I really do!), but I love the aroma and its warmth.

This week I have jumped back on the very diligent eating bandwagon. I always find the first few days to be a bit challenging (mainly because you have to think about things so much), but once I get a week under my belt, I'm typically good to go. So, more to come on that.

I guess that's about it for now. I have no pics to post. No, Tucker did not get dressed up for Halloween and we did not go Trick or Treating. I know, I know...bah humbug.
