January Exits with Sunshine!

I woke up this morning really looking forward to riding! It's supposed to be 60+ today and our Epic race team is meeting at the shop for a ride. So, I ate some breakfast, gathered up the gear and went up to the shop. We were supposed to leave at 10, but I think it was 20 minutes or so later that we ended up starting out. Uh, I was the only girl there...I thought we were supposed to be the tardy ones? :-)

It was a bit windy and cool at the start, but once we got rolling, it didn't feel too bad at all. I was kinda thinking we would rollout easy and then pick it up - nope - the ride started hard and I was immediately aware that I would be riding solo. I kept the group in my sights for about 30 minutes, and then all I saw up ahead was the open road. Thankfully, I was very familiar with that route, so I just decided I would ride up to Camden Point and turn back. I mean, after all, it's a gorgeous, sunny day and I want to ride!

As I neared Camden Point, I ran into a couple other riders out enjoying the day. I was just about to pass them when this crazy, little dog came charging toward the road - he chased their bikes so closely, he ended up bumping his nose into one rear wheel. Yikes. I was hopeful the lil' guy was worn out from that interaction and wouldn't be up to chasing me when I came back by. Nope, he wasn't worn out, and I'm tellin' ya, that dog could run! He was so stinking fast. I tried the old yelling trick, "NO!", but that didn't phase him, so I gave him a squirt out of the water bottle, which seemed to do the trick.

Remember how I mentioned the wind? Well, it seems that the wind had picked up even more and I was heading back into it. Hmmmm. While it was a tough ride back, I kept reminding myself what a great workout I was getting! I ended up being out there for just about 3 hours, and was definitely happy to wrap things up. Who could've imagined - January 31st, and a 60 degree day?!

It sounds like you had some weather like we had out here. Nice isn't it? =)

To answer your question, no TTing isn't a specialty that you move up automatically in. It's really based on the honor system. Some abuse it, most I've met so far abide by it.

Regarding the time tracking thing, I was only able to determine the amount of time based on the power meter information I had once I uploaded it to my program. =)
