I can hardly believe those words are coming out of my mouth! Where did all that time go? Here we are, just 30 days away from racing Ironman Coeur d'Alene!!!
Today was a good day too, so I'm very hopeful that I'm on the road to being rested.
We hit the pool at 5:30, and did 3900 yds today! Unfortunately, during the 500yd warm up, I felt as though I might drown...it's just strange how some days you feel it and other times you don't. I was just having a hard time getting it together this morning. Fortunately, as the workout progressed, I felt great and finished up feeling good.
Work has been pretty crazy, but I actually got a little breathing room today, so I just had a little time to go through things to ensure I'm not missing anything - organizing a little - cleaning out emails, etc. It was great.
Jenny said she would run with me after work - this ended up being such a great thing! I'm not sure why I haven't arranged running partners all along, to help with the workout. Anyway, we met in our work gym around 5, changed, and went out to the Trolley Trail, which is walking distance from the office. It was a beautiful night for certain, which was also helpful! Here again, however, at the start, things just weren't coming together. The "out" portion of this route is uphill, and it was a bit windy last night, with the storms that were coming in, so it was a tough start simply due to those factors. Typically, the first 10 minutes of any run are a little awkward/rough - just takes a little time to settle in, get your pace and breathing down...well, it took like TWENTY minutes last night. Finally, I felt really good, and again was able to end the workout feeling great! I hope these are good signs, and not indications of fatigue or other things.
So, thanks to Jen for the run. We may try to meet up for Sunday's run too. Oh, and we were just a few minutes from wrapping it up when we ran into an old spinning friend in Brookside. There is a group ride that leaves from there, and he was waiting to start...so, as I ran by, I yelled...Daaaaaamon! We stopped and chatted a bit, and he sounds like he's doing great! I had no idea he keeps up with the blog, so here's a shout out to you, Damon! Good seeing you, I'm so glad things are going well and that you're keeping up with the cycling...nicely done!
Home I go to grab some dinner, eat and start things all over again for tomorrow! Bonus? We get to wear jeans to work tomorrow....it's the little things, people! :-)
