Snow...again?!

So, it snowed again yesterday. I'm really done with the snow. Actually, I wouldn't mind if it snowed during the week and was clear and sunny by the weekends. I'm just not sure how many more "indoor" training weekends I can tolerate.
I woke up this morning to a text message from Troy, "good morning" is what it said. Well, this must mean that he's getting started on his workout. I was really glad he sent the message, 'cause I had inadvertantly set my alarm for 6 p.m...not good. Anyway, I was up. Did I mention that (with the wind chill) it's about ZERO outside? No, that's not an exaggeration...it's really 0 degrees out there. So, I'm indoor-bound again.

I fixed my coffee and got on the computer to read my workout notes again - I was THRILLED to see that, what I thought was a 4hr 15min brick, was actually 3:15. Wahooo! I had to ride the trainer for 2.5 hours and run for 45 min. Aaaahhh, now that's MUCH better than riding the trainer more than 3 hours. So, I didn't have to get started right away either, I had time to sit and chill with my java.
I got on the trainer around 8 and started my ride. Did I mention that the trainer (and now the treadmill) are planted in the middle of the living room in front of the TV? Well, they are. Not my first choice, but when you need a serious mental distraction...the ride went by surprisingly fast and before I knew it, I was on the treadmill and into the run. I felt pretty good. Tired, but good. I finished up my workout, ate a little lunch and jumped in the shower.

Troy and I were meeting Spencer, an excellent swimmer, at the pool for some swim coaching. As we walked into the pool area, I noticed he had a video camera in his hand - oh boy...there will be footage of this event. Troy and I got in the pool and we did a quick warm up, then Spencer recorded a down/back for each of us. It's not pleasant watching yourself on camera, but it is a very helpful training tool! He pointed out some things we were each doing incorrectly and then hopped in the pool with us to start showing us some drills. He worked with us for about an hour and it was incredibly useful information and time well spent. Thank you, Spencer, for your help today and in the coming weeks! Spencer had to take off, but Troy and I stayed a while longer to practice some of what we had just learned. After we got changed, we took a look around the facility - it's a pretty cool place...high-end.

That was about it for today - literally - I think I got home around 4. I ate dinner and fell asleep on the couch. Aside from a phone call a few hours later, and taking time to physically move myself to bed, I pretty much slept the rest of the night away. I think I needed it. This past week has been somewhat "recovery", and it's back to the grind this week!

I can't imagine sitting on a trainer for longer than an hour. It's just not the same and I find it more difficult since the resistance just doesn't match the road. ...perhaps it's just my trainer...

Anywho, kudos for your commitment to indoor training. I'm off to do intervals in our 80 degree weather out here. =)
