I didn't get far into the route when I came up to a "road closed" sign. Now what? For those who aren't aware, I'm quite directionally challenged. I didn't come with a built-in compass, that's for sure, so things like "road closed" signs can really throw a wrench into my plans. Oh well, I had to ride for 4 hours, so I best be finding another way to my route. And that's what I did. I just rode until something looked familiar, and SHOCKER - I landed on the right route after all! It's a humorous note that each time I've ridden this particular route, I've gone out and come back a little bit differently. Funny - or scary. ha ha
Anyway, I rode for about 2 1/2 hours, turned around, and headed back towards my starting point. I was bummed to find that I was riding right into the wind, and had also forgotten that it's more uphill on the way back. :-) I was just past Dearborn when I saw three riders coming my way...I was pleased to see that one of them was my friend, Terry.

He had joined the guys at the bike shop to "test drive" their group ride. Lucky for me, he bid them farewell and turned around to join me. It was nice to have some company - and, he let me sit in the bulk of our ride back, which was a huge help!
It felt good to get another pretty long ride in - next weekend is the big dog ride in Philly. I think I'm ready, and I'm hoping for fairly cool weather!
Oh, we snapped some pics on this ride too - we saw deer standing right up next to the road, but I'm not sure if I zoomed in enough (kinda hard to do all that while attempting to stay upright on your bike).
Alright, so here's a shot of two deer in the middle of the road, looking at us. As suspected, I wasn't able to really zoom in enough. The pic is also just a nice shot of what a portion of our route looks like - nice road, lined with trees.
